Download Newgrounds videos the easy way

Newgrounds is really three archives sharing a domain: the Portal for animation, the Audio Portal for music, and the art gallery. Each has its own URL shape, and this page accepts all of them — paste whatever you have and the right kind of file comes back.

It's the page to use when you're working through someone's profile and the links are mixed. If you already know you have a movie or a song, the dedicated pages carry the notes specific to that format.

Newgrounds links that work here

  • A movie or animation: newgrounds.com/portal/view/…
  • A song from the Audio Portal: newgrounds.com/audio/listen/…
  • An art page: newgrounds.com/art/view/…

What can't be downloaded from Newgrounds

  • Flash .swf submissions — those are programs, not media files (see the video page)
  • Anything behind the adult-content gate, which needs a logged-in account
  • An author's whole catalogue in one paste

What quality you get from Newgrounds

Whatever the author uploaded, handed over without a re-encode: MP4 for Portal movies, MP3 at the artist's own bitrate for audio, and full-size PNG or JPG for art. Newgrounds has always been unusually hands-off about re-compressing submissions, so these sit close to the creator's masters.

Support the creators

Many Newgrounds artists mark their work as free to download — hhhdownload simply makes that easy. If you enjoy someone's work, follow them on Newgrounds and support them directly; a download is no substitute for backing the people who make what you love.

If a download doesn't work

If a Newgrounds link fails, it's usually a Flash-era piece with no video file, an age-gated page, or a deleted upload.

If a public video still fails, Newgrounds may have changed how its pages work — tell us through the contact page and we'll get it working again. That's on us, not you.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Newgrounds downloader free?

Yes. Every download on hhhdownload is free, and there's no limit on how many videos you can save.

Do I need an account or the Newgrounds app?

No. This page runs on its own in your browser — you never sign in to Newgrounds here, and there's no app or extension to install.

Where does the file save to?

On a computer it goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone, check your Downloads or Files app (on iPhone, look in Files › Downloads).

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The same page works in Safari, Chrome and every modern mobile browser.

Can you download private videos from Newgrounds?

No. Anything that needs a Newgrounds login — age-gated or unlisted work — stays out of reach, and we don't try.

Does it work with old Flash (.swf) animations?

No. Classic Flash pieces aren't a single video file, so there's nothing to hand you — Newgrounds plays them through an emulator. Modern movies are regular video and download fine.

Can I download art in full resolution?

Yes. Art pages give you the full-size image the artist uploaded, not a thumbnail.
