Download Reddit videos the easy way
If you're here it's probably because a Reddit video you saved turned out silent. That isn't a broken file and it isn't your device — it's DASH working as designed: v.redd.it publishes video and audio as separate tracks, and whatever saved the file grabbed only the video one.
The fix has to happen server-side, because the audio track sits at its own URL that has to be fetched and combined. That's what runs when you paste a link here, so the MP4 you get plays with sound on the first try — nothing to repair afterwards.
Reddit links that work here
- A post permalink: reddit.com/r/subreddit/comments/…
- Short share links: redd.it/… and reddit.com/r/sub/s/… from the app
- old.reddit.com and new.reddit.com links — same post, both fine
What can't be downloaded from Reddit
- Adding sound to a post that was uploaded without an audio track
- Recovering audio from a silent copy you already downloaded — start again from the link
- Posts in private subreddits, with or without sound
What quality you get from Reddit
One MP4 containing Reddit's video track and Reddit's audio track together, at the best rendition available for the post. Because the merge is a container rewrap rather than a re-encode, the sound is bit-identical to what Reddit serves — no generation loss from the fix.
Sound, merged for you
hhhdownload downloads Reddit's separate video and audio streams and combines them into a single MP4 with sound — no extra steps, no desktop software. If a post genuinely has no audio (a lot of Reddit clips are silent by design), you'll get the clean video.
If a download doesn't work
Reddit fails are usually a deleted post, a private subreddit, or a post whose media actually lives on another site — open the link and check where the content is hosted.
If a public video still fails, Reddit may have changed how its pages work — tell us through the contact page and we'll get it working again. That's on us, not you.
Frequently asked questions
Why was my Reddit video silent before?
Because Reddit keeps the video and audio as two separate files, and many tools only grab the video one. hhhdownload grabs both and merges them for you.
Is the Reddit downloader free?
Yes. Every download on hhhdownload is free, and there's no limit on how many videos you can save.
Do I need an account or the Reddit app?
No. This page runs on its own in your browser — you never sign in to Reddit here, and there's no app or extension to install.
Where does the file save to?
On a computer it goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone, check your Downloads or Files app (on iPhone, look in Files › Downloads).
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The same page works in Safari, Chrome and every modern mobile browser.
Can you download private videos from Reddit?
No. Private and quarantined subreddits need a logged-in member, so their posts have no public page we can read.
