Download Snapchat videos the easy way

Snapchat video is vertical, short and built for a phone screen, and what's public comes from two places: video snaps inside a public profile's Story, and Spotlight posts. Paste either kind of link and the MP4 saves with its audio intact.

This is the page for when you have a link to something specific rather than a whole Story to work through. The format notes below are about video only — photo snaps behave differently and have their own page.

Two kinds of link work here

A public profile link (snapchat.com/@username) gives you that account's current Story, with each video snap listed separately. A Spotlight link (snapchat.com/spotlight/…) gives you that one snap.

Short links from the app's Share button work too — we follow them to whichever of those two they land on.

Vertical video, kept as-is

Snaps are shot vertically and stay that way: no cropping, no re-encode, no letterboxing added by us. The MP4 plays in any phone gallery, video player or editor.

Files are named after the account and numbered by snap, so downloading three videos from one Story leaves you with three files you can actually tell apart.

The honest limits

Most of Snapchat is private by design, and that's a feature, not an obstacle to route around. hhhdownload reads only what Snapchat itself publishes to the open web, doesn't ask for your login, and doesn't collect whole accounts by username.

If you need your own snaps, Snapchat's Memories and the My Data export in Settings are the right route — see the notes on the Story downloader page.

If a download doesn't work

The most common Snapchat failure isn't an error at all: the Story expired. Stories live for 24 hours; once ended they're deleted, and nothing brings them back.

If a public video still fails, Snapchat may have changed how its pages work — tell us through the contact page and we'll get it working again. That's on us, not you.

Frequently asked questions

Which Snapchat videos can this download?

Videos in a public account's Story, and Spotlight snaps. Those are the two things Snapchat publishes to the open web. Private Stories and chat snaps have no public page and aren't downloadable by anyone.

What quality do I get?

The file Snapchat serves to the web player — typically vertical MP4 at the resolution it was uploaded. We don't re-encode, so nothing is lost between the site and your device.

Is there a watermark on the file?

The file is exactly what Snapchat serves. Anything burned into the video by the creator — captions, stickers, their own overlays — is part of the picture and stays; we neither add nor remove anything.

Why did my link fail?

Usually the Story expired (24 hours), the account isn't public, or the snap was deleted. The message you get says which one it was rather than a generic failure.

Is the Snapchat downloader free?

Yes. Every download on hhhdownload is free, and there's no limit on how many videos you can save.

Do I need an account or the Snapchat app?

No. This page runs on its own in your browser — you never sign in to Snapchat here, and there's no app or extension to install.

Where does the file save to?

On a computer it goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone, check your Downloads or Files app (on iPhone, look in Files › Downloads).

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. The same page works in Safari, Chrome and every modern mobile browser.

Can you download private videos from Snapchat?

No. Only public profiles and Spotlight have web pages. A private Story never touches the open web, so no downloader — this one included — can reach it.
