Download Pinterest GIFs the easy way
A pin that animates is almost never stored as a .gif. Pinterest converts uploaded GIFs to MP4 on ingest — the same move Twitter and Reddit make — because a looping MP4 is a fraction of the size and scrolls without stalling the feed. So the animation you save from here arrives as a silent looping MP4.
If you specifically need a .gif container for a forum, a signature or a sticker pack, convert the MP4 afterwards. Starting from Pinterest's MP4 gives a cleaner conversion than re-ripping from a screen capture, because the frames have only been compressed once.
Pinterest links that work here
- A pin: pinterest.com/pin/1234… — any country domain works (.com, .co.uk, .de …)
- Short app links: pin.it/… — paste them as-is
- Links copied from Pinterest's Share button on web or in the app
What can't be downloaded from Pinterest
- A genuine .gif file — Pinterest discarded that container at upload and keeps no copy
- Audio, since neither the GIF nor the converted MP4 has any
- Animated idea-pin stickers and overlays, which aren't part of the stored media
What quality you get from Pinterest
A silent H.264 MP4 that loops, at the dimensions Pinterest stored on conversion. There's no audio stream in the container — the original GIF had none either. Frame timing survives the conversion, so the loop runs at the speed it was posted at.
GIF pins, video pins, image pins
Pinterest mixes all three in the same feed, and it's not always obvious which one you're looking at. Paste the link here and you'll get whatever the pin really is. For ordinary videos and stills there are pages tuned for each: the Pinterest video downloader and the Pinterest image downloader.
If a download doesn't work
Pinterest fails are usually a deleted pin, a secret board, or an idea-pin format whose media isn't on the public page. If the pin opens in an incognito tab, it should save here.
If a public GIF still fails, Pinterest may have changed how its pages work — tell us through the contact page and we'll get it working again. That's on us, not you.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Pinterest downloader free?
Yes. Every download on hhhdownload is free, and there's no limit on how many GIFs you can save.
Do I need an account or the Pinterest app?
No. This page runs on its own in your browser — you never sign in to Pinterest here, and there's no app or extension to install.
Where does the file save to?
On a computer it goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone, check your Downloads or Files app (on iPhone, look in Files › Downloads).
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The same page works in Safari, Chrome and every modern mobile browser.
Can you download private GIFs from Pinterest?
No. Pins on secret boards only render for their owner, so there's no public page to read — and we don't try.
Will I get a real .gif file?
You get exactly what Pinterest stores for that pin. Some pins are true GIF images; many 'GIFs' are actually short MP4 clips because they're smaller and smoother. Either way the file loops and plays the same.
Do pin.it links work?
Yes. Paste the pin.it short link straight from the app — we follow it to the full pin for you.
