Download Newgrounds videos the easy way
The Portal is where Newgrounds animation lives, and it spans two eras. Modern submissions are ordinary MP4 video and download normally. Everything from the Flash era is a .swf — an interactive program that Newgrounds now plays through the Ruffle emulator in your browser.
That split is the whole story on this page. A .swf has no timeline to extract: the animation is produced as the program runs, which is why classic Portal entries can't be turned into video files by any downloader. If a piece plays in the modern player with a scrub bar, it's video and it saves here.

The MP4 the author submitted, at their chosen resolution and frame rate. Animation frame rates on Newgrounds vary far more than on video platforms — 12 and 24fps are both common, because they come from the animation timeline rather than a camera. No re-encode, so no smoothing of hand-drawn frames.
