Reddit Video Downloader with sound
Paste a Reddit post link and download the video with its audio — hhhdownload merges the sound Reddit stores separately, so you don't get a silent clip.

Download Reddit videos the easy way
Reddit stores video on v.redd.it as DASH, and the format keeps picture and sound as two separate streams that the player combines while you watch. Download the video stream on its own — which is what a right-click save gets you — and the result is silent.
This page fetches both streams and muxes them server-side before handing you one MP4. That single step is the difference between a working file and the silent clip people end up with, and it's the thing most Reddit downloaders skip.
Reddit links that work here
- A post permalink: reddit.com/r/subreddit/comments/…
- Short share links: redd.it/… and reddit.com/r/sub/s/… from the app
- old.reddit.com and new.reddit.com links — same post, both fine
What can't be downloaded from Reddit
- Posts in private or quarantined subreddits, which have no public page
- Videos embedded from YouTube or Streamable — that media lives on the other site
- Audio for the small number of v.redd.it posts uploaded silent in the first place
What quality you get from Reddit
MP4 at the highest DASH rendition Reddit stores, up to 1080p for most posts, with the matching audio stream merged in. Both parts are Reddit's own files — the mux only rewraps them into one container, so there's no quality loss from the merge itself.
Why other downloaders give you a silent video
Reddit doesn't store a Reddit video as one file — the picture and the sound live in two separate streams on v.redd.it. Many downloaders grab only the video stream, which is why you end up with a silent clip. hhhdownload fetches both and joins them back together, so what you save actually has sound.
If a download doesn't work
Reddit fails are usually a deleted post, a private subreddit, or a post whose media actually lives on another site — open the link and check where the content is hosted.
If a public video still fails, Reddit may have changed how its pages work — tell us through the contact page and we'll get it working again. That's on us, not you.
Frequently asked questions
Will the video have sound?
Yes. Reddit stores the video and audio as two separate files; hhhdownload downloads both and merges them, so your download plays with sound. (If the post is a silent GIF-style clip, there's simply no audio to add.)
Is the Reddit downloader free?
Yes. Every download on hhhdownload is free, and there's no limit on how many videos you can save.
Do I need an account or the Reddit app?
No. This page runs on its own in your browser — you never sign in to Reddit here, and there's no app or extension to install.
Where does the file save to?
On a computer it goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone, check your Downloads or Files app (on iPhone, look in Files › Downloads).
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The same page works in Safari, Chrome and every modern mobile browser.
Can you download private videos from Reddit?
No. Private and quarantined subreddits need a logged-in member, so their posts have no public page we can read.
What quality is the video?
The highest stream Reddit stores for the post — up to 1080p for most uploads. You can't get more detail than the poster uploaded.
Do share links and old.reddit links work?
Yes. reddit.com, old.reddit.com, redd.it short links and the app's share links all point at the same post, and any of them works here.
