Download Snapchat images the easy way
Photo snaps are the still frames in a public Story — a single JPEG each, with whatever text, stickers and drawing the poster added already flattened into the picture at capture time.
That flattening is why a photo snap can't be edited back apart. The caption isn't a text layer sitting on top of an image; by the time Snapchat publishes it there's one image, and the caption is made of pixels like everything else in it.
How photo snaps come back
Paste a public profile link and hhhdownload lists the Story's photo snaps as thumbnails, each with its own download button and its position in the Story. Click the ones you want; nothing downloads until you do.
Images arrive as ordinary JPGs at the size Snapchat stores, so they open anywhere and keep the captions and stickers exactly as posted.
Public only — and why we're strict about it
Snapchat is mostly private messaging, and its user base skews young. A tool that reached into private accounts wouldn't just be against Snapchat's rules; it would be a genuinely harmful thing to build. hhhdownload reads public profile Stories and Spotlight, and nothing else.
That also means no bulk downloading by username, no profile pictures, and no archive of someone's whole account. One public Story at a time.
Save it before the day is out
Photo snaps expire on the same 24-hour clock as everything else in a Story. If the Story has ended, the image is deleted at Snapchat's end and no tool can recover it — you'll see a message saying exactly that.
If a download doesn't work
The most common Snapchat failure isn't an error at all: the Story expired. Stories live for 24 hours; once ended they're deleted, and nothing brings them back.
If a public image still fails, Snapchat may have changed how its pages work — tell us through the contact page and we'll get it working again. That's on us, not you.
Frequently asked questions
Can it save photos from a private Story or a chat?
No. Only public accounts have a web page, so only their Stories can be read. Snaps sent in chat or posted to a private Story aren't reachable, and we don't try.
Do I get the full-size image?
Yes — the same file Snapchat serves its web player, not a compressed preview. Stickers, captions and drawings the creator added are part of the image itself.
Can I download someone's profile picture or Bitmoji?
No, and we've left that out on purpose. Profile-picture grabbing is the kind of thing that goes wrong for the people in the pictures, and a lot of Snapchat's users are teenagers. Public Stories and Spotlight only.
The Story had videos in it too.
Those show up as their own buttons — or use the [Snapchat video downloader](slug:snapchat-video-downloader) if video is what you're after.
Is the Snapchat downloader free?
Yes. Every download on hhhdownload is free, and there's no limit on how many images you can save.
Do I need an account or the Snapchat app?
No. This page runs on its own in your browser — you never sign in to Snapchat here, and there's no app or extension to install.
Where does the file save to?
On a computer it goes to your Downloads folder. On a phone, check your Downloads or Files app (on iPhone, look in Files › Downloads).
Does it work on iPhone and Android?
Yes. The same page works in Safari, Chrome and every modern mobile browser.
Can you download private images from Snapchat?
No. Only public profiles and Spotlight have web pages. A private Story never touches the open web, so no downloader — this one included — can reach it.
